“The Lord
isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is
being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants
everyone to repent.” (2 Peter 3:9)
I have often heard people associate
God's will to the most horrible incidents in life. The death of a loved one,
the loss of a job, or the failing of a marriage are not the will of God
according to scripture. These incidents are the result of either our poor
choices, the choices of others, or the fact that real evil is in the world.
These choices and real evil make the world seem like a place without hope. Yet,
Peter says that our God is patient. Yes, there is evil in the world and
brokenness, but there is also God, and he is on our side. He is patient and
allowing all of us to find our way to him in the days which we live. This is
the will of God for us that we will find him and follow his truth
